Tandem Inflatable Mirage Drive Inflatable Kayak

A tandem inflatable Hobie, the iTrek 14 is a high-performance inflatable sit-on-top designed to easily accommodate two paddlers. With a carefully considered redesign the iTrek 14 is constructed of lighter and more durable materials. Equipped with two Mirage Drive GT’s the iTrek 14 will be as close to a rigid kayak as possible while still being more than capable of folding down into a handy storage bag, complete with roller wheels and a handle no more awkward to manage than a suitcase.

Constructed of highly durable PVC featuring dropstitch technology throughout the triple chamber hull. The iTrek can be easily inflated and when correctly pressurised it feels near rigid, improving performance and being as similar to a solid hull as possible. Inflating the iTrek can be done via either the high-pressure hand pump or the high-volume electric pump (both included) giving options if near the car or to ensure that the optimum pressure is maintained all day long.

The two seats are lightweight aluminium frames with a comfortable mesh seat back, this mesh design allows for increased breathability and also assists water to drain through reducing the chance of sitting in a puddle. The adjustable tilt control also gives the opportunity to have a bespoke seat for increased comfort, the seat is easy to instal and indeed it can be used as a beach chair. With a large easy to use rudder the iTrek 14 is quick to turn, while still being removable for ease of storage..

Propelling the iTrek are two of Hobie’s revolutionary Mirage Drive GT system with the Kick-Up Fins. The drives incorporate “Glide Technology” featuring roller bearings on most of the moving parts, decreasing friction on these parts as well as offering a smoother and easier to pedal experience. The Kick-Up Fins give an increased peace of mind, designed to move up to the hull of the boat should you catch an unseen obstacle under the water, reducing the likelihood of damage. With the seat being in a fixed location on the iTrek (as it is with all Hobie kayaks) it is the Mirage Drive arms which adjust to best suit the peddler, easy to adjust via a simple push button atop of the crank arm. Alternatively, you could also use the 4-piece paddle in shallower water or for a different approach.
