The Dagger Katana is a crossover kayak that takes design features from white water and touring kayaks and combines them to offer a very versatile, multipurpose option. The Katana has a long hull length, which helps to travel with a high cruising speed down a river or over calm waters. It also has a decent amount of rocker, which enables the paddler to manoeuvrer the kayak with ease, allowing confident navigation through rapids and white water.

Continuing on from the popularity of the Dagger Approach, the Katana boasts improved aspects and features from modern touring kayaks, such as the stern storage compartment with a sealed bulkhead. This provides the paddler with ample space for securing expedition equipment, safety gear, or items for camping trips. The Katana is also fitted with a drop-down tracking skeg that can be deployed to greatly increase directional control when travelling over a long distance, or when the conditions are more challenging.

Outfitted with Dagger's Contour Lite seating system, the Katana provides a spacious feel and simplicity when adjusting the connection point inside the cockpit. The base of the seat is fixed in place and has padding for improved comfort, and the adjustable backrest supports the paddler's frame, helping to improve posture. There are also adjustable thighbraces and a full plate bulkhead footrest, giving the paddler the ability to fully engage themselves inside the kayak and control their movements with greater precision.
