Nova Craft offer their triple-layer polyethylene Prospector canoe in three sizes. The Prospector 16 SP3 is the middle size and the most popular, as it offers a great combination of speed, manoeuvrability and carrying capacity. It also paddles very nicely by two paddlers in tandem, or solo when desired. A true all-rounder the Nova Craft Prospector 16 is loved by seasoned veterans, right through to novices wanting to learn the basics of open canoeing. The hull design on a Prospector is reassuringly stable and provides a relatively dry ride even in choppy conditions. The Prospector 16 SP3 is well suited to wilderness tripping, and can easily be loaded up with overnight camping gear for two people to head out on multi-day adventures.

The Prospector 16 hull shape has proven very successful over the decades due to its versatility on a variety of different waters. With forgiving lines and a moderate rocker, the Prospector 16 is at home canoe camping on slow moving rivers just as it is taking on low grade white-water rapids or even day cruising on lakes, canals, or Scottish Lochs.

We import Canadian manufactured Nova Craft Canoes Prospector 16 SP3’s directly into Manchester Canoes. For the strongest construction, Nova Craft uses SP3 plastic- manufactured by oven roto-moulding three layers of super linear polyethylene. The outer and inner layers are solid plastic, and the middle layer is a foam core. These canoes are extremely strong; amongst the strongest anywhere. Providing all-round paddlers with the perfect choice for moving water and general recreational use. The tough SP3 canoes are very popular with outdoor centres and rental operators due to their high levels of durability and superb construction.

Although these SP3 Prospectors are extremely strong and will likely give meany years of maintenance free canoeing, like all triple-layer canoes they are heavy. For some paddlers, the weight of a plastic canoe may be too much to lift and carry. With this in mind Nova Craft offer the hugely popular Prospector 16 in modern, lightweight materials.
