Lightweight 15ft Prospector Canoe

Swift's Prospector 15 follows the traditional shape of a Canadian canoe, but with a few tweeks from renowned canoe designer David Yost. The symmetrical Prospector canoe is widely considered to be the most all-round canoe type ever designed, and hugely popular as the go-to canoe for most days out. Easy to paddle with its forgiving lines and stable hull shape. Ideal for day paddling, weekend getaways or lake fishing on remote waters. Unlike purely flat-water cruising boats, the Prospector shape has a moderate rocker which allows them to turn quicker, making them more manoeuvrable and better suited for faster flowing rivers (not shallow white-water) or meandering waterways.

The Swift Prospector 15 makes for a nice lightweight, stable tandem day boat. Easy enough to paddle solo when required and out of all the Swift tandem canoe line-up, the Prospector 15 comes out the lightest (16.8kg). The Prospector 15 can be loaded up with overnight camping kit if required, but most people would benefit from a 16ft Prospector if considering multi-day expeditions.

As is the case with all the Swift Canoes we import into the UK, the outfitting on the Prospector series of open boats is considered amongst the best available. With strength, lightness and careful thought being put into all the components and materials used during their construction. The Carbon/Kevlar gunnels are extremely light, yet durable and are infused into the hulls Kevlar Fusion material for superior strength. The Kevlar Fusion hull is popular due to its high strength to weight ratio, providing great abrasion and impact resistance (as far as composite boats go). Available in a range of colours including Swifts two-tone colourway- Emerald or Ruby over Champagne, which provides a smart look, and the Champagne coloured hull makes it harder to see scratches or character marks that the underside may pick up during it’s time on the water. The standard Prospector 15 is an excellent boat for solo (making use of the versa bow seat) or tandem use, however if you are looking for a dedicated solo paddling position or indeed tripping with a third paddler then the it's worth looking at the Prospector 15 Combi.

The Prospector 15 is also available as a Combi, this is fitted with three seats as standard. The central seat is positioned onto the balance point of the canoe and as such makes for the optimum solo paddling position. But this additional seat will also increase the number of paddlers to three should it be required. A removable yoke still allows these lightweight canoes to be portaged if required.
