Lightweight composite Canadian Prospector Canoe

The Swift Prospector 16 shape is close to the original ‘Chestnut Prospector’ design, and has slightly less rocker than other Prospectors, allowing it to glide and track well on flat water. The Prospector 16 is the most stable out of the three sizes of Swift's tandem Prospector range and with the extra carry capacity (over the Prospector 15), makes it perfect for heavier paddlers and/or camping kit. As with all Prospectors it is very popular due to its general-purpose shape, stability and ease of paddling in most situations. It can be paddled solo or with a 2nd person, and is fine for shorter day trips alongside multi-day camping expeditions. With a moderate rocker the Prospectors are well suited for faster flowing rivers where manoeuvrability and turning ability are sought after attributes (not shallow white-water).

The Swift Prospector 16 is available with two Cherrywood webbed seats as standard, but is also offered a Prospector 16 Combi model, which has a factory fitted third seat. This 3rd seat provides room for a third paddler when required, but is also situated in a really nicely balanced position for solo paddling. To ensure there is enough room to paddle from the 3rd seat, the Prospector 16 Combi does not have a fixed central yoke instead offering a removable system which is easy to operate even with cold and wet fingers. The materials used and construction techniques that Swift have developed is put to great use in their Prospector 16, providing a fantastic strength to weight ratio. All the UK imported Swift Canoes come standard with integrated carbon/kevlar gunnels which are incredibly light, yet offer huge strength and rigidity to the overall boat. We offer the Prospector 16 with the hugely popular Kevlar Fusion hull material which offers a good value option for a boat that is this light and strong (other, even lighter material hull materials are available if required). We also bring the Swift Prospector in with the smart two-tone hull colourways. The lighter coloured ‘Champagne’ base to the hull is very effective at hiding any light scratches or scrapes that the boat may pick up during it’s lifetime of adventures.

We import the best-selling Swift Canoes, based on UK paddlers requirements and these are displayed on our website.
