All Rounder Sea Kayak made in the UK
With the success of the composite Sirona, Valley have released it in a more durable triple layer material. Short enough to play the ocean in tide races and surf; it is still long enough to hold its speed, even when loaded. The Sirona hasn't been designed for long ocean crossings or multi-week expeditions, but is suited for day paddling and also overnight trips. Classed as an entry level sea kayak the Sirona is a do it all boat and will allow for people who are progressing into sea kayaking or who want a more manageable boat for off the water.
With a forgiving rocker and easy to paddle hull the Sirona is manoeuvrable and surprisingly agile for a boat its size. A shallow Vshaped hull offers good straight line tracking and working alongside the retractable retractable skeg the Sirona keeps going well in a straight line.
With four hatches and sealed bulkheads carrying kit is not an issue. A small on the water hatch is continently located at the front of the cockpit and makes for easy access when on the water (being small and sealed even with this open there is no risk of flooding the cockpit).
Much like it’s predecessor the Avocet, the Valley Sirona has been designed as a very versatile boat. Having predictable handling characteristics, easy to edge yet also stable for developing essential skills in. Ultimately, longer kayaks will have a faster hull speed, and a full expedition kayak is capable of carrying more kit. But the Sirona will still offer a sweet spot to meet most people’s requirements from a sea kayak- day trips with friends and occasional overnight trips and in this it excels.
