For those wanting to travel with their kayak the right way up, or in J-bars, then a cockpit cover is a sensible idea to keep rain water out. When travelling at speed a neoprene cover is a must, as it is much less likely to blow-off than a nylon cockpit cover, and also thought to offer greater fuel efficiency! It will also help to prevent the loss of any kit that is stored inside the kayak (airbags, throwlines etc) should it become loose in transit.

The other use for a kayak cockpit cover, is to keep unwanted creepy-crawlies from making home inside your kayak when it is being stored in a garage, shed, or outside. The Peak cockpit cover is constructed to the same heavy-duty standard as their high-end white-water spraydecks. Can be used on most closed cockpit kayaks, including sea/touring kayaks and white-water boats.
