Swift Canoes Dragonfly 15

A modern take on a legendary solo canoe from North America.

The Swift Dragonfly 15 is the development from the Swift Canoes Dragonfly (originally 14'6"). While the Dragonfly originally came directly out of the original U.S. Dave Curtis Dragonfly mould from the early 1980’s. Swift have developed the mould, firstly making it suitable for Swift’s resin infusion manufacturing process, but further to add a little more width, 2", and more volume above the waterline. While this new design is still in-keeping and true to the original Dragonfly hull shape. With this added volume and increased capacity will be a timeless river cruiser better suited to larger paddlers with some experience looking for a performance oriented river tripper.

The Dragonfly 15 canoe has similar proportions to the Swift Wildfire, if scaled up a little. But the Dragonfly 15 has a rounded hull shape, making it a little less stable, but livelier and more playful the increased waterline width found on the Dragonfly 15 helps mitigate this. The Dragonfly 15 excels at carved turns and is best suited to experienced paddlers. The Dragonfly has a nicely flared bow, which provides a dry ride and helps to deflect waves on open water.

The solo seat has an angled front bar to make it more comfortable to paddle, from either a sitting or kneeling position. The seat hangers can also be modified by the owner fairly easily (with some basic DIY skills and tools) to adjust the height or angle to customise it for a bespoke preferred paddling position.

With strength, lightness and careful thought being put into the components used to outfit the boats.
