Lightweight Prospector 14 Canoe

The Swift Prospector 14 is considered by many to be the best all-round lightweight canoes available. Sticking to the classic Prospector shape but scaled down for solo use, the Prospector 14 is loved by paddlers around the World, and suitable for most canoeists needs. Simple to paddle, with a moderate rocker allowing it to turn nicely, combined with a stable hull shape. Most Prospectors are set up as tandem canoes and range between 15-17ft in length. Swift now offer a Prospector 14 as a dedicated solo boat, and of course available in all Swifts ultra-light weight material and custom options.

The Swift Prospector 14 is among the smallest Prospector canoes available, and set up for solo use with only one seat fitted. The seat is positioned at the balance point, and the yoke has been removed to give the paddler enough space for kneeling or sitting. To keep the Prospector 14’s strength and stiffness, Swift have added two Cherry thwarts across the width of the boat. The Prospector 14 offer a reassuring level of stability for newcomers or heavier paddlers, and makes an ideal canoe to fish from. Due to its shorter length the 14 is a nimble boat, very manoeuvrable however it is a fair bit slower over distance compared to longer, narrower canoes. For smaller paddlers or those who want an even lighter boat, check out the Swift Prospector 13 as an alternative.
