Swift Canoes Wildfire
Fast Lightweight One Person Canoe
The Swift Wildfire is another example of modern resurgance of much loved classic canoes, originally designed in the early 1990’s as part of the ‘Fire’ Series of solo canoes. The Wildfire sits in the middle of these boats at 14ft in length. The Wildfire has a moderate (equal) rocker (2.5”) at each end, and when the boat is leant into a turn, the waterline length is even shorter, making for very fast, tight turns. The Wildfire is similar to the Swift Dragonfly in length and shape; however, the Wildfire is 3 inches wider and instead of a rounded hull, it has a shallow arched hull-shape. This means the Wildfire is more stable on the water, and probably better suited for less experienced paddlers.
The Wildfire was designed as a fast-cruising boat, suitable for open water, and the nicely flared bow helps to deflect small waves, for a drier ride. Due to it being a short boat and having good manoeuvrability it is also capable of tacking smaller rapids (deep water) in the right hands. As with the Flashfire and Dragonfly models, the Wildfire the seat hanging system has been designed so that it can be easily customised (some DIY skills would be required). This allows precise adjustments to be made to suit different paddlers needs and preferred paddling position.
As is the case with all the Swift Canoes we import into the UK, the outfitting on the Wildfire is considered amongst the best available. With strength, lightness and careful thought being put into all the components and materials used during their construction. The Carbon/Kevlar gunnels are extremely light, yet durable and are infused into the hulls Kevlar Fusion material for superior strength. The Kevlar Fusion hull is popular due to its high strength to weight ratio, providing great abrasion and impact resistance (as far as composite boats go). Available in Swifts two-tone colourway- Emerald or Ruby over Champagne, which provides a striking contrast and a beautiful traditional look, the Champagne coloured hull makes it harder to see scratches or and helps to hide any character marks that the underside may pick up during it’s time on the water.
As with all the standard Swift Canoes and Pack Boats we import into the UK, the outfitting on the Swift Wildfire is considered to be amongst the best in class. With strength, lightness and careful thought being put into the components used to outfit the boats. We import the best-selling Swift Canoes, based on UK paddlers requirements and these are displayed on our website. However, Swift do offer a huge array of material options, outfitting choices, and custom builds. If you would like to design you own ‘super canoe’ from Swifts many options, and have a custom-built boat, then we would highly recommend looking at the Swift Website.
