Pelican Sprint 100XR

For those kayakers looking a fanatic, lightweight (18.6kg) touring kayak, the popular Sprint 100XR from Pelican has been constructed from RAM-X PREMIUM material- a multi layer polyethylene with a resin in the top layer to leave a glossy finish and provide better performance than standard polyethylene. Manufactured in Canada a country with a proud tradition of Canoe and Kayak design the Pelican Sprint 100XR comes with a history of pedigree and is proving popular over here in the UK.

With a large, open cockpit the 100XR is easy to get into, and has plenty of room to stretch the legs and exit the kayak from steep banks, jetties or canal sides. The Sprint 100XR has a nice combination of a wide stable hull, and a deep V chines. On the water this translates to a kayak with a strong secondary stability, even in choppy water and a fast kayak (for its length) which tracks well over distance.

Features wise, the Sprint is fitted with the patented Ergoflex GT seating system, which offers plenty of padded comfort, and lower back support for longer paddling excursions. A small watertight day hatch is positioned just in front of the cockpit for keeping small items to hand. The stern of the boat has a sealed bulkhead and easy to open hatch cover, providing plenty of room to carry kit and doubling up as a safety buoyancy chamber in the event of a capsize or swamping. Bow and stern carry handles come fitted as standard and there is plenty of room for on-deck storage under the bungy cord for a map or windproof jacket.
