The Perception Essence 16 & Essence 17 are modern sea kayaks, incorporating a strong V-Shaped bow and stern that allows for a quick and sleek sea kayak. As at home in small swells as it is in much larger choppier conditions.

The hull design features a defined V-shape at both bow and stern while the defined chines and flatter midsection of the hull creates a stable and predictable craft which gives impressive manoeuvrability and straight-line speed, directional stability and exceptional edge control. Along the waterline the Essence has excellent secondary stability and is a brilliant way to develop skills.

Finished with a well sized cockpit, the Essence is incredibly comfortable to paddle, the Zone EXP seating system provides easy to adjust outfitting, a low profile backband works in conjunction with a leg lifter, creating a unique fit for each paddler. Three hatches all sealed with bulkheads offer ample storage for multi-day trips. The TruTrak drop down skeg is easy to deploy and will assist in maintaining a heading, improving straight-line performance and tracking.

In an overview, the Essence 16 is ideal if your paddling style is a livelier as it offers a nimble ride, the snugger ergonomics allow for close control and also to give a great fit for smaller paddlers, by contrast the Essence 17 has a longer length and increased volume over the Essence 16. Which gives more space and a more forgiving ride, particularly for those paddlers with an average to larger build, or those who wish to carry a heavier load without compromising on handling abilities.
